Gundam Seed Freedom spoiler free review

 



Gundam Seed Freedom has been out in Japan for a while now. I understand its global release seems limited, so I’ll just give a spoiler free review for those who may want to find ways to watch it.

There are spoilers for the anime TV series!




Ok, so how was it? It was great!!!! For old time fans for the series. It has lots of action, fast paced, and keeps you entertained for the entire movie.

Of course there are some love affairs involved as with past SEED episodes. Without them, it’s not SEED.

I understand the series was not for all Gundam fans. Perhaps it’s not the best Gundam. However, I guess many have played the Gundam SEED games and those were a hit. The movie brings back memories for those fans. It hits lots of those sweet spots. 

The main characters, Kira, Athrun, Shinn, all get their fair share of action. Everyone gets to shine in this festive movie.

I would recommend people to just remind themselves of the plot before watching. Below is a very rough idea that may be quite lacking on purpose:

We have Naturals and Coordinators. Naturals are regular humans and Coordinators are DNA engineered people literally genetically enhanced people. The Coordinators built Plants in space and started living there and have their own community. Naturals hatred of Coordinators eventually lead to war. 

Orb is a neutral country that plays crucial roles.

In SEED Destiny, the Destiny Plan was planned by Plant head Durandal where all humans should be controlled and work based on their genetic information. So, everything is destined. This fails and people are left with a difficult world with peace for the moment. 

The movie continues after SEED Destiny. 

Characters to remember:

Athrun: Kira’s old friend and good rival who fought for Plant and Zaft the army there. Eventually he goes rogue with Kira.

Kira: Protagonist of the series. A super coordinator who helped Naturals fight against Zaft. Pretty much a pirate team leader that goes on its own accord hoping for peace.

Shinn. Freedom killer or one that beat Kira once. Protagonist of Destiny working for Zaft. Becomes friends with Kira after deathly battle. His love Stella was killed by Kira too. And his parents and sister during a battle that Kira was involved. There’s a lot that goes on.

Lacus:  extremely talented singer and loved by all. A coordinator. Love of Kira. The super politician.

I guess that’s all that is good to know before the movie. The rest would be a plus before watching. I think the movie is followable with above.

Giant Robots Yokosuka Museum Review

1:1 scale Gundam drawn on the floor. This depiction was chosen deliberately as Gundam and other robots in anime are drawn in 2D, so they decided to depict some robots in full scale in a 2D format. Tetsujin28 or Gigantor when it was a Tokusatsu or live action series. Japan's mecha and giant robot anime are quite a thing. It is really popular in Japan and has caught some fandom across the globe. This exhibit in Yokohama focuses on Giant Robots that have had a central part in Japanese anime history. It starts from Tetsujin 28-go or Gigantor (1963) until early 2000's or so. The interviews at the last chapter talk about today's robots too. Gigantor was the second robot anime TV series after the popular Astroboy by Osamu Tezuka and was the first giant robot anime. Hence, it was one of the main characters for this exhibit.   This is part of the Tetsujin28 or Gigantor area, a newer adaptation of the series geared towards adult viewership. Macdonald Mobile Takeout and Happy Set Challenge: Kirby

Since Yesterday, Feb . 24, the Kirby Happy Set was sold in Japan for the first time! And today, most stores don’t have it in stock… but we found one store! Here and many stores no longer have Kirby…!
