Giant Robots Yokosuka Museum Review

1:1 scale Gundam drawn on the floor. This depiction was chosen deliberately as Gundam and other robots in anime are drawn in 2D, so they decided to depict some robots in full scale in a 2D format. Tetsujin28 or Gigantor when it was a Tokusatsu or live action series. Japan's mecha and giant robot anime are quite a thing. It is really popular in Japan and has caught some fandom across the globe. This exhibit in Yokohama focuses on Giant Robots that have had a central part in Japanese anime history. It starts from Tetsujin 28-go or Gigantor (1963) until early 2000's or so. The interviews at the last chapter talk about today's robots too. Gigantor was the second robot anime TV series after the popular Astroboy by Osamu Tezuka and was the first giant robot anime. Hence, it was one of the main characters for this exhibit.   This is part of the Tetsujin28 or Gigantor area, a newer adaptation of the series geared towards adult viewership. Anime Archiving Project to Start in Kyoto, Seika-cho!!!!

 Kyoto Seika University has announced the start of their Anime Archiving project!!! Onebilling, the company behind E-SAKUGA (it is its 10th anniversary year) is going to support the archiving and utilization of the intermediate products of anime such as Genga (keyframes). This is a happy moment to celebrate for the birth of anime archiving!!!!! Let's keep the arts and techniques for the future. AnimeJapan 2024 Business Report

Saudi Arabia on a Roll I know as a fact that pretty much no overseas cons had a booth for this year's AnimeJapan 2024 despite the fact that it was the first face to face version since 2019. I have asked the Association of Japanese Animators who provided anime concierge services during the event about this and the answer was: "since COVID the event organizers have created online channels with the stakeholders, so they don't plan to come visit during AnimeJapan." Well, I guess if your rivals are not coming, you can stand out if you come? Saudi Arabia's Manga Productions was there and did the opening session for the business sessions. They are on the offensive. I can see that Saudi Arabia is really serious about its content business strategy and soft power. Saudi Arabia ranked 19th in global soft power and Japan 4th.
